Britain’s best winter breaks for electric car drivers have been revealed.
The study by Vauxhall compared how many locations could be reached from the UK’s 15 most populous cities using the 209-mile range of the Vauxhall Mokka Electric.
The historic city of York is within reach from 11 of the most populous cities in the UK using the range of the Mokka Electric, and has 47 different public charging points. York also has the highest number of accommodation options that offer charging for electric vehicles.
Tied in second place are Lode in Cambridgeshire and Bath in Somerset. The Winter Garden in Lode has been designed with plants that thrive in the winter months, with the village within 209 miles of 12 of the most populous cities in the country. Visitors there have access to 36 public charging stations.
Drivers heading to Bath to enjoy the Roman ruins and bath houses will have access to 28 charging points within a 10-mile radius of the city centre. The city is within 209 miles from 10 of Britain’s most populous cities. Bath also has 16 accommodation options offering charging for electric drivers within a 10-mile distance from the city centre.
The remaining top five locations based on Vauxhall’s research are: Woodstock, Newquay and Beaulieu.
The Mokka Electric features a 50kWh battery and a 100kW electric motor and is capable of up to 209 miles of range (WLTP) from a single charge. In the winter, range can decrease due to colder weather, with Vauxhall having created a Range Calculator to help drivers gauge the expected range of the vehicle under different use scenarios.
From 2028, Vauxhall will be an electric-only manufacturer, and is already one of the few brands in the country able to offer fleets and businesses an electric Light Commercial Vehicle across its entire van model range.
