Pushchairs really don’t get much more imaginative than the Cosatto Supa Firebird.
First Impressions
Our first thoughts on seeing the Supa Firebird were ‘Wow!’ because – just like all Cosatto products – it looks amazing. Despite not being as loud in colour as some of the other Cosatto pushchairs, the design is still pretty eye-catching. It also feels truly unisex, something that most products just don’t manage, and is not only ideal for siblings, but for parents.
The Supa is suitable from birth, which is a plus, and although it isn’t parent-facing, it does offer versatility for parents with children of different ages. Unlike many of the heavier models on the market today, the Firebird weighs in at only 8kg and has a lightweight aluminium chassis with a convenient carry handle.
Features
Depending on the type of pushchair on offer (rough terrain, urban stroller etc.), it can feel like we’ve seen every feature before, not this time! The Supa Firebird contains a multimedia gadget pocket with a speaker and a ‘window-on-the-world’ display pocket for flash cards, favourite photos or even films on a tablet.
OK, so watching a film may seem a step too far, and could detract from the engaging experience that walking around in the world should be, but it’s fantastic for parents who love their tablets and engaging easily-bored children.
You could also print some picture cards and have your toddler match them to what they are seeing on the walk or store a little whiteboard and pen in there so your youngster can draw what they see! Of course, you could use a tablet to play your own walking soundtrack too. This pocket deserves credit for being a truly imaginative addition, which could come in handy if you tend to go on long walks with a child who has a short attention span (and perhaps a talent for whinging!).
Aside from the pocket, the pushchair is easy to collapse and pop up. It also comes with a footmuff called a ‘cosy toes’ which is reversible and has a zip-off liner so your little one can be snug whatever the weather! Chest pads and head huggers add to the comfort factor, although taller toddlers may outgrow the pushchair a little faster than expected. The raincover is great and longer than many others, which makes it useful as an extendable UPF50+ sunshade for hot days.
Parents will be pleased to know that the Supa’s cup holder can be used on either side, perfect if you’re a dad who enjoys his coffee on the go! The adjustable handles make it easy to swap between you and your partner pushing (and again, with that pattern, who wouldn’t want to be seen at the handlebars!) and it can be stored upright with a stand-alone feature to save space. Plus, if it gets a bit mucky, there’s no need to worry because the easy-wash seat just pops off to be cleaned.
FQ Verdict
A pushchair with a really fun design, kitted out to battle every season and innovative features, it’s hard not to be a fan of the Supa Firebird.
