Britax are a reliable and well-established name when it comes to child safety and the new Advansafix definitely lives up to their high standards.
First Impressions
For parents who want longevity in a car seat and to avoid constantly having to find extra cash to update to the next model, the Britax Advansafix offers protection from toddler to teen. The seat comes in a range of sporty colours and a snazzy ‘Smart Zebra’ pattern is also being released which could be worth a look!
The Advansafix has 3 different installation points into a vehicle, providing maximum safety and security. Aside from the recognisable ISOFIX attachment for the seatbelt, the seat also relies on top tether to ensure stability when driving.
It’s worth bearing in mind that top tether is not provided by all vehicles, but you can use the Britax Fit Finder to see whether your car is compatible with the Advansafix or any other car seats in the range. Both installation of the seat and removing the 5-point harness are pretty simple, though might look a little tricky at first.
Features
This seat can be used from 9kg – 36kg (roughly 9 months – 12 years old) and is categorised as Group 1, 2 and 3 – making it an excellent option for families on a budget. The racing car inspired 5-point harness can also be used right up to a 25kg (4 stone) weight limit, which is roughly the weight of an 8 year old and far longer than most standard Group 1 car seats. Remember that your child’s height and weight should always be taken into account when deciding when to switch safely.
Following that, the seat uses your car’s seatbelt for secure protection and the ISOFIX, top tether and seatbelt installation mean it’s firmly fixed into place. Unlike the still popular booster-seats, the Advansafix offers your child high-quality, all-round protection for the optimum number of years and can absorb impact in a side-on collision.
The covers are washable, an important factor for a car seat that has potential 10-year lifespan and making it easy to keep up with hygiene – a big plus for parents! Of equal importance is just how comfortable your child will be in their seat. Luckily, the cover and side-wings are padded, and there is even a tummy pad to give plush protection between the harness and your youngster, so whether they want to settle back and enjoy the view or take a nap they’ll be content enough to do so.
FQ Verdict
The Britax Advansafix is a reliable seat that offers incredible longevity at a very reasonable price.
