Bridgestone Corporation’s lunar rover tyres have been awarded the “Tyre Concept of the Year” at the “Tyre Technology International Awards for Innovation and Excellence 2025.”

This recognition highlights Bridgestone‘s innovative designs for space mobility in extreme conditions.

The tyres utilise technologies from Bridgestone’s “AirFree” tyres, featuring thin metal spokes that enhance flexibility and durability for traversing the moon’s regolith-covered terrain. They are engineered to withstand vacuum, extreme temperatures, and cosmic radiation, while also absorbing impacts from obstacles.

Bridgestone aims to support lunar development by promoting safety and confidence, in line with its principle, “Tyres Carry Life.” The company has been working on these lunar tyres since 2019 to fulfil its commitment to nonstop mobility and innovation as part of its “Bridgestone E8 Commitment.”
