The culmination of an exciting summer of cricket will see two top county teams battle it out at the inaugural Final of the Royal London One-Day Cup at Lord’s Cricket Ground on Saturday, September 20.
Having reverted back to a 50-over format, bringing it into-line with one-day international cricket, 18 teams across England and Wales have been battling it out since July for a place in the Royal London Cup One-Day Final. The showpiece event will draw to a close an exciting year at the Home of Cricket, with the venue also having celebrated its 200th anniversary this summer and is set to offer cricket fans some exciting, hard-hitting action as the two finalists go head-to-head for silverware.
With under 16s tickets priced at just £1, the final cricket match at Lord’s for 2014 should make for a fantastic day out for the family. As well the exciting action taking place on the pitch, cricket goers can enjoy a number of activities off it, with a range of popular family attractions including fairground stalls and face painting, while luxury food hampers will also be available to purchase.
Marleybone Cricket Club (MCC) will also be offering free taster sessions for children at the world class Lord’s Academy, including net sessions and performance analysis led by the experienced MCC and Lord’s coaches, giving the next generation of cricketers a chance to hone their skills and improve their all-round game.
MCC President, Mike Gatting, said “The Royal London One-Day Cup has been a fantastic spectacle so far and we look forward to welcoming the two finalists to Lord’s for the final game of 2014. There has been some great cricket played throughout the competition and I’m sure both teams will continue that trend on the day.”
