Yesterday marked the first day of filming with the cast for Disney Europe, Middle East & Africa’s (EMEA) newest and most ambitious live action series to date, Evermoor.
19-year-old Australian actress Naomi Sequeira leads the way and will star as Tara Crossley, an American teen who moves from the US to Evermoor, a beautiful but isolated village on the edge of some very creepy moors in middle England. Whilst Tara’s famous novelist mum and step-dad are busy unpacking at Evermoor Manor, the Crossley kids, Tara’s brother Jake and her British step-siblings Seb and Bella, try to adjust to life in their new home. It’s not long before danger, mystery and intrigue unfurls and Tara and Seb have to unite to save their new home and their family’s new start in England.
The filming is taking place in the heart of the North West in the mystical and picturesque grounds of Arley Hall and Gardens, as well as in the surrounding village of Great Budworth in Cheshire. Last month, Disney EMEA announced that the mystery adventure will break new ground as it becomes the first long-form live-action series produced in the UK to broadcast on Disney Channel US.
Young UK talent set to take the global stage
A host of emerging British talent including George Sear (Friday Download), Georgia Lock (Sadie J, Friday Download), and youngest cast member, 12-year-old Georgie Farmer, will hope to follow in the footsteps of fellow Brit and US actors discovered by Disney Channel including War Horse’s Jeremy Irvine, Wizards of Waverly Place’s Gregg Sulkin, Zac Efron, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato.
David Levine, Vice President, Programming, Production and Strategic Development at Disney Channels (EMEA) commented: “Disney has a fantastic heritage in discovering new talent and we are thrilled to be able to present them on a global stage. We hope that the combination of great storytelling, suspenseful comedy and outstanding casting will resonate with viewers around the world when the series premieres in more than 160 countries later this year.”
Disney EMEA has commissioned BAFTA award-winning production company Lime Pictures to produce the series, which has been created by Tim Compton and Diane Whitley (both House of Anubis) and it will be directed by Chris Cottam (Miss Wright, Officially Special, Set List: Stand Up Without A Net).
