LEVC’s rich history dates back to 1908, when the first bespoke black cab was crafted for use in London.
Since then, the iconic British vehicle has been synonymous with the company, characterised by its distinctive silhouette and timeless design. In 2018, LEVC introduced the electric TX, a revolutionary taxi powered by the company’s cutting-edge eCity technology, marking a significant leap in the evolution of transportation.
Manufactured at a state-of-the-art facility in Ansty, Coventry, the purpose-built, range-extended electric TX taxi embodies LEVC’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. With over £1 billion invested by Geely since 2014, LEVC has established the UK’s first dedicated electric vehicle production plant, emphasising its dedication to eco-friendly manufacturing.
Recently, LEVC unveiled its new strategy to transform into a leading zero-carbon mobility technology company. Building on the firm’s unparalleled heritage, this strategic shift aims to expand beyond manufacturing advanced taxis and deliver intelligent, sustainable, safe, and accessible mobility solutions.
Amidst ongoing advancements in automotive technology and design, the LEVC TX Access taxi has emerged as a groundbreaking innovation. It redefines accessible transportation and sets new benchmarks for inclusivity and comfort.
Finding reliable and accommodating transportation can be daunting for individuals – including children or parents – with mobility challenges. However, the LEVC TX Access taxi has emerged as a beacon of hope in this regard. Its thoughtful design and innovative features make it a viable choice for those needing accessible transport.
One of the most remarkable features of the LEVC TX Access taxi is its spacious interior, meticulously crafted to cater to passengers’ diverse mobility requirements.
It features a direct access ramp that folds away into the floorspace, offering swift deployment and adjustability. This makes it easy for individuals using wheelchairs or other mobility aids to enter and exit the taxi. The design not only enhances the overall accessibility of the vehicle but also fosters a sense of inclusivity for all passengers.
In addition to its practicality, the LEVC TX Access taxi boasts a stylish design that sets it apart from traditional accessible vehicles. In our view, the taxi’s contemporary aesthetic challenges the stereotype of accessible transportation being purely functional.
Furthermore, the LEVC TX Access taxi incorporates environmentally friendly features, solidifying its status as a forward-thinking vehicle. This eco-conscious approach benefits the environment and underscores LEVC’s clear commitment to social responsibility.
Having personally experienced the LEVC TX Access taxi here at FQ, we can attest to its practicality for up to six passengers. Despite not being wheelchair users, we could witness the ease with which anyone could access the vehicle.
What’s more, the overall ride – both behind the wheel and as a passenger – is comfortable. The taxi is easy to drive, thanks to a supportive driver’s seat and switchgear borrowed from Volvo – plus the TX’s turning circle of 27.7 feet, which is in line with London taxi regulations, is amazing.
As the automotive industry continues to evolve, the LEVC TX Access taxi is a great example of how technology and design can come together to create a more inclusive and accessible future for all.
