We caught up with Jonathan Saccone Joly to discover just what being a Youtube parenting star is like.
Jonathan and Anna Saccone Joly – along with their four children and six dogs – are better known on the internet as the SACCONEJOLYs. They’ve been documenting their day-to-day lives for almost ten years now, whipping up around two million YouTube subscribers to date and numerous plaudits in the process.
We recently spoke with Jonathan to find out more about his family’s success.
Tell us about the SACCONEJOLYs…
Since 2010, I have been documenting my life and sharing it online via our YouTube channel. I had just turned 30, was living with my girlfriend, and I thought it would be a fun hobby at the time. I have since captured and shared my proposal, my wedding, four births and one miscarriage, and my entire 30s. It’s been a coming-of-age drama playing out in real life.
What’s been the most surprising thing you’ve learnt on your journey?
That it’s turned into my full-time job. I started the channel after graduating university as a way to show off my creative work in the hope it would help me secure a role. And never did I think it would actually be my job!
Has your huge success changed you or your family in any way?
It’s of course paved the way for us to work with some amazing companies and brands, which has in turn made us fortunate enough to be able to invest in our children’s futures. But Anna and I are the same people we’ve always been – just now with four kids and six dogs!
