Today we celebrate women around the world on International Women’s Day. Here are four ways to join in.

This year’s theme is all about gender equality to create #balanceforbetter. This year, women and men around the globe are pushing for equality between men and women in the workplace. This covers everything from the interview process to wage.

While gender equality in the workplace may be too big of a concept for our children to grasp, you can still embrace the celebrations with these four ideas.

Story time

Invite the most important woman in your life to story time with your child. They can tell tales of their proudest moments in their life or of a time where life was particularly hard for women. Sometimes raising girls can be a tricky and rocky terrain, especially for single dads. This a great way to gain support from the women in your life and inspire role models for your little ones.

Check out your local library

The library is filled with stories about women from all over the world. There are endless options that come as picture books for little ones, and chapter books for older children. From the comfort of your own library you and your children can explore through the lives of women all around the globe.

Volunteer

Helping out in your community is great way to give back. You can volunteer at a women’s shelter, or you can donate old clothes to a shelter near you. This a great opportunity to teach your children about helping those who are less fortunate.

Go to an event

From speaking events with the Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex to party bashes. There are endless opportunities for events that you can bring your little ones to, and there are options for a more adult vibe if that’s what you’re looking for. Check out local events in your area here.
