From cooking to walking, check out these great winter blues beaters.
The endless months of coats, hats, and scarves are upon us. So here are five things to do to beat out those winter blues.
Check out a winter festival
Embrace the winter festivities rather than snuggling under a blanket with a cup of hot cocoa hiding from them. Take a walk around to see fun winter lights, bring your children to a winter festival and explore magical ice caves, or even try out an ice-skating show. Festivals are a great place to see the beauty in winter.
Cook a hearty meal
Nothing is better than a bowl of soup to warm your bones. This is also a great way to sneak some extra veggies into your child’s diet. Invite your little ones to help put together a warm meal the entire family can cosy up to. Check out a list of comforting winter soups to get started here.
Snowflake crafting
Your kids will love creating their own replicas of snowflakes to hang around the house. All you’ll need is white paper and scissors. Your little one can pre-cut the paper into a circle, fold the paper as many times as you want (typically four folds works best), then cut different designs on the folds. Unfold the paper and watch snowflakes arise. You can always add glitter for a little extra sparkle.
Nature walks
Just because it’s cold outside, doesn’t mean you have to be stuck inside. A breath of fresh air will be great for the entire family and another way to spend some quality time together. A nature walk is just the thing to get your heart pumping and stay fit during the winter slump.
Winter animals
The cold snowy months are the perfect time to explore winter animals with your children. Build bird-feeders to see what birds have stayed for the winter, read about polar bears and penguins and other animals who thrive in the cold. You can even teach your little ones all about hibernation.
