1 IN 25 DADS ARE FATHERING SOMEONE ELSE'S CHILD
Staggering new research has suggested that as many as 1 in 25 dads are fathering someone else’s child. The rise in genetic testing and paternity testing is, according to UK health researchers, revealing the shocking news with potentially devastating consequences for families.
Many suspicious fathers now opt to take paternity tests with private companies costing around £200. Figures for these paternity tests suggest that 30% of suspicious fathers that arrange the test are fathering a child that isn’t theirs. Demand for this type of testing has increased 10fold within the last ten years.
The research that was conducted by The Liverpool John Moores University has suggested that “paternal discrepancy” was widely believed to be around 10 percent, but actual figures suggest it’s closer to 25 percent.
The potential impact of such news can be devastating, and can bring to light many years of sexual mistrust between partners. Along with this, it cannot be forgotten that there is also a child involved who is completely innocent of events that have lead to the situation.
